Our history
Born as a bindery in 1975, Fratielivi helps cultural institutions, public and private bodies, companies and foundations in the protection – in ordinary and emergency conditions – and long conservation of the archival and book heritage.
Inspired by model of the Renaissance workshop and the contamination between art and science, Fratielivi has always worked using specialized human capital in humanities and sciences; preserving and renewing i artisan knowledge; developing proprietary technologies and innovations for the care and treatment of movable cultural heritage of archival and book interest.
In possession of the SOA qualification certificate for the OS 2-B category | Classified II and Mibact accredited, the company has been active since 2002 also on the front of emergencies and disaster recovery for archives, libraries, museums, foundations, public bodies and businesses with 24/7/365 availability.
Constantly growing over the years, Fratielivi is today the leader in Italy and in Europe in the supply of services, products, machinery and technologies for the protection, recovery, restoration, rescue in emergency conditions, maintenance and long-term conservation of archival and library heritage.
The solutions proposed by the company are numerous and complementary. These include: the preparation of emergency plans; the prompt intervention 24/7/365 throughout Italy with rescue team and own means for the recovery and rescue of paper and membrane assets in the event of natural disasters or induced by human action or inaction; L’drying wet documents and books; there manual and mechanical dedusting; disinfection and disinfestation; manual and mechanical restoration; microbiological and entomological analyses; the production of dedicated paper converting. These solutions, always supplied by specialized personnel, are in several cases based on the use of a fleet of machines and systems – such as Books Wind 1 and Books Wind 2 – unique in Europe.
In 2020, in accordance with its vision and mission and based on the technological know-how developed in more than four decades of activity, Fratielivi founded Tergeosan. The new company is dedicated to the conception, planning and marketing of safe and certified technologies for the protection and conservation of archival, book and cultural heritage.

OUR MISSION
At Fratielivi we have been working day after day since 1975 to safeguard, defend and preserve the archival and book heritage.
We do this by intervening where nature, human action or inaction threaten its integrity. We do this by conceiving, designing, introducing and transferring frontier technologies. We do this by preserving, recovering, refining and increasing remote knowledge and artisan skills. We do this by creating machinery, plants, equipment, methods, products and services for safeguarding and long-term conservation.
Because, as women and men of the present, we feel a supreme duty. Preserving, transmitting, disseminating and sharing for the benefit of the generations of tomorrow, testimonies, traces, fruits of the ingenuity and creativity – mediated in text or graphic form – of those who preceded us.
So that better and more just worlds can be built. Because saving the past means protecting the future.
OUR VISION
At FratieLivi we intend to deploy all the power of technology and human knowledge to become in ten years the undisputed reference point in the production and use of machinery, equipment, plants, processes, methods, services and products for innovative protection and conservation. and sustainable heritage of archival, book and museum heritage. Both in ordinary conditions and in emergency conditions.
We have saved millions of documents and hundreds of thousands of books. And millions and hundreds of thousands we will save more. In memory of past generations, in support of present generations and for the benefit of future generations.
